  18. Comment from the Author !

  20. I have received a number of comments about compiling !Guardian and not 
  21. releasing the source code. I have this to say;
  22. I have decided to protect !Guardian by compiling it, for two reasons;
  23.  
  24. 1. By not seeing how I have detected and killed viruses, virus writers won't
  25.    get any ideas on how to amend viruses to avoid detection and be able to
  26.    make more devious viruses in the future.

  28. 2. By not supplying the source code, it makes it extremely difficult for
  29.    any potential hackers and virus writers to amend my code and/or 
  30.    incorporate viruses into the !Guardian code itself.
  31.    Versions of !Guardian above 2.00 also incorporate fairly extensive self-
  32.    testing to ensure that the !Guardian application itself is safe from
  33.    contamination. Therefore, do not attempt to alter any files within the
  34.    !Guardian application, or it may fail to install.
